March for Justice

*Hosted in partnership with Community Advocates For All – CAFA

& with the Protest in Honor of George Floyd in Portsmouth on June 7th

In light of the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis and the centuries of racial injustice in this country and around the world, we are hosting a peaceful, youth-lead protest in this community to show our solidarity and support.

Please join us on Saturday, June 6th at 2pm, please join us to support the movement for Justice. We will be marching from the Traip Academy parking lot in Kittery, ME, to Market Square in Portsmouth, NH. You may join us from different points along the route as well, including from a planned check-point at Prescott Park. Wear black and carry signs if you would like.

A car rally is tentatively planned to lead the march for those who do not feel comfortable or safe walking in the crowd. More details to come.

There will also be an opportunity for community conversations about racial justice, white privilege, white supremacy, and steps forward prior to the event and following it. The first conversation will be held over Zoom on Friday, June 5th at 8pm, where we will be talking and making signs for the Saturday protest. If you’d like to join this event, please PM or message the organizers to receive the link.

Finally, please be advised that all social distancing measures are expected for those who participate in this event. Come wearing and mask, gloves, and be prepared to march 6ft apart from others. Please do not attend this event if you or anyone in your household has tested positive for COVID-19 or suspects illness.

***CLARIFIER: We are inviting people to march from R.W. Traip Academy through downtown Kittery and Portsmouth to Market Square. The car procession will lead off the protesters, cross the bridge, and then disperse after Market Square, however the March is that entire distance as well. For people already in Portsmouth, or who don’t want to walk the 1.8mi to the Square, they can join us from Prescott Park and March to Market Square.
