The Masquerade Marketplace: Art Show and Steampunk Gathering will be held at the Dover Elks at 282 Durham Rd in Dover, NH, on June 1st from 6pm to 11pm. This is a free, evening, indoor art show with most artists work featuring Steampunk and Masquerade themes.
Stroll through more than 20 local vendors and see their innovative work which includes art, music, psychic readings, baked goods, Victorian style clothing, and hand made masks. Many of the artists are New Hampshire based hailing from Dover, Somersworth, Durham, and beyond. Artists include Dave Davis of Witch Doctor Arts, Laura Jackson, Neema’s Kitchen, and many more.
The inventions available for sale are based around the Steampunk theme. What is Steampunk? Steampunk is a sub-genre of Science Fiction set in a world where steam and natural gas are still the primary power source. It is a world where the Victorian era meets the future and is heavily based on industrial rivets, metal, gears, and clockwork. It glorifies the “do it yourselfers” and tinkerers, and the only requirement is to have an imagination.
The event will take place between 6pm – 11pm. Sit a spell and enjoy a drink from the cash bar that will be available. Anyone wearing a Masquerade or Steampunk costume will get 5% off from any vendor, if the item is more than $5. There will also be a 50/50 raffle to benefit future masquerade-themed events.
