One of the things that we love to do at Red & Shorty’s is to have local artists in to play and now, we have two!
Both Bob Moore and Chris George have beautiful new albums hot off the presses and tonight is a celebration of those releases.
Bob’s latest album is called ‘A Place to Start’ and Chris’s is titled ‘Dreams of Freedom’. Both titles will be for sale on the night.
Drawn to music from childhood, Chris was involved in music groups in his early years of teaching high school in New Hampshire. Bands that he wrote for and performed in included “Staving Chain”, “The Stutter Brothers”, and “Conniption Fit and the Flying Fan Modules.” The past ten years have included a full immersion into his musical passion. He lives in Portsmouth, NH and is a member of “Rock My Soul”, the New England gospel choir. He also plays guitar and sings in a variety of organized and less organized gatherings of musicians. In the past four years, Chris has been active playing in farmers’ markets, drinking establishments, coffee houses, the Sunflower festival, the Stone Church, and a variety of other venues. He has developed a repertoire of original and cover songs that utilize open tunings, two resonator guitars, a baritone guitar and a standard guitar. His repertoire includes blues, folk, Americana, bluegrass and other genres.
Bob Moore has been writing songs and poetry since the early 1990’s. In 2013, he released a guitar instrumental collection of songs entitled “A Bridge with a View”. Since 1997, Moore has published several books of poetry his latest by Beech River Books entitled “Body and Soul”. Moore is host of the First Friday Coffeehouse held each first Friday of the month at the First Unitarian Universalist Society of Exeter (FUUSE). Lately, he’s also been playing Baroque and Spanish music for alto recorder and classical guitar with musician friend Penny Vernet. He also performs with musician friend, Lisa Reynolds, who is a vocalist and plays flute, and musician friend Cynthia Chatis who is a vocalist and plays flute and is featured on “A Place to Start.” Moore lives in New Hampshire with his wife Pat and three dogs, Roi, Romeo, and Ringo. By day, he works as a science teacher at Pelham High School in Pelham, NH.
