two new and excellent Seacoast rock bands in one place
Showmen’s Rest are a new group organized around songs by Jimmy Dority.
From its outset the band has been a collaborative effort between Dority (guitar, vocals), Mike Effenberger (keys), and Nick Phaneuf (bass, guitar).
Beginning in the midst of pandemic shutdown, the band’s work has cracked its way through the concrete of global isolation.
As a result, they have cultivated a garden of songs expressing love and hope, alienation and despair, and the gray area between it all.
Together, Dority, Effenberger, and Phaneuf prune, weed, and crossbreed their music in hopes of nourishing the artist and audience alike – whether you need to cry, or dance, or both.
