Mark your calendar for June 21st for the 43rd Somersworth International Children’s Festival!
The Somersworth International Children’s Festival, sponsored by Service Credit Union, will take place on Saturday, June 21st, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Main Street and at the Noble Pines Park. A free shuttle will provide transportation back and forth between the two locations.
Main Street in Somersworth will be transformed into a vibrant street filled with lots of fun for the kids, delicious food, craft and retail vendors, educational exhibits, and street performers. In the early childhood area, the little ones can make huge bubbles, draw pictures, play with Play-Doh, make crafts, and play in the sand. Many businesses and community organizations will also be providing free activities for the children. The World Cultures Passport Center will give kids an opportunity to get a mini passport and learn about many countries, make crafts and win raffle prizes. Roaming entertainers include a stilt walker and Mr. and Mrs. Mouse!
Main Street will have two stages. The Main Stage will feature two popular local bands: The Visitors from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Middleman from 12:30 to 3 p.m. The World Cultures Stage will feature multicultural entertainment, including Indonesian and African music and dance from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by the McDonough-Grimes Irish Dancers at 12:15 p.m., Philip Alexander and the Serfs at 1 p.m. and Carol Coronis and Scott Sutherland at 2 p.m.
There will be lots more fun at the Noble Pines Park! The Noble Pines Stage will have a great lineup of kids’ entertainers, including the Reckin’ Crew Ukulele Band at 10 a.m., Steve Blunt and Marty Kelley at 11 a.m., Rockin’ Ron the Friendly Pirate at noon, Tricky Dick’s Magic Show at 1 p.m., and Lindsay and Her Puppet Pals at 2 p.m. The ever popular Wildlife Encounters and the Petting Zoo will be back again this year! There will also be yummy food.
