Guitar Sundays: Jaclyn Jones at PMAC

Portsmouth Music and Arts Center and Portsmouth Public Library, in association with the Boston Classical Guitar Society, will continue Guitar Sundays, a series of live guitar performances. Curated by Mitch Shuldman, these free concerts will be held at 3 PM each month, alternating between the Levenson Room at the Portsmouth Public Library and the Haas Family Gallery and Recital Hall at PMAC.

Guitar Sundays draws from a rich selection of talent from both New Hampshire and the greater Boston area, this series of recitals highlights the versatility and range of the guitar with both classical and jazz performances.

About Jaclyn Jones
Jaclyn Jones performs solo and chamber concerts throughout the United States and teaches aspiring guitarists for various schools in Connecticut. Her playing has been featured at Guitar Salon International and Guitar Foundation of America’s GFAtv.

Ms. Jones headlined at Odeon’s “Women in Guitar” Series in New York City as well as the 2020 Fall Guitar Weekend online festival. She has performed solo concerts for the Boston Classical Guitar Society, Philadelphia Guitar Society, NJ Guitar & Mandolin Society, and Connecticut Guitar Society and played for special events like Leo Brouwer’s 80th Birthday Celebration Concert. She is co-founder of the Luca Duo with award winning mezzo soprano Meng-Chieh Hsieh as well as the Guitar Squad guitar quartet.

In media, Jaclyn appeared as a guest artist on WPAA-TV’s Music with Purpose show and premiered the 2021 Connecticut Guitar Festival’s Concerts and Conversation series. She is passionate about showcasing new compositions and has premiered music by Apostolos Paraskevas, Damien McCluskey, and Michael Stubblefield, some which were written for her. Jaclyn has played at notable venues such as the Connecticut Governor’s Residence, the Wadsworth Atheneum, the Buttonwood Tree Performing Arts & Cultural Center, the Eric Carle Museum, and the Augusta Curtis Cultural Arts Center.

Ms. Jones earned her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the Hartt School of Music with performing arts scholarships and was selected to play several 20/20 Honors Chamber Music concerts. Jaclyn has performed in numerous masterclasses for renowned musicians such as Oscar Ghiglia, Scott Tennant, Leo Brouwer, Antigoni Goni, Odair Assad, and the Brasil Duo.
