A Superior Court judge has ruled that the public can use Sanders Poynt to get to Rye Beach, according to the Associated Press. The ruling by judge Marguerite Wageling is the latest milestone in a two-year dispute over who can access Sanders Poynt. In 2012, the nearby Wentworth by the Sea Country Club put up a fence and shrubbery to block the public from accessing Rye Beach by way of Sanders Poynt. Bill Binnie owns the country club and Sanders Poynt. In January 2013, Rye resident Robert Jesurum filed a petition requesting that public access be restored. Jesurum argued that the public has been using Sanders Poynt to access the beach for more than 380 years.
