My practice centers on repetitive, labor-intensive processes as a way of thinking through form. I build porous structures by hand, twisting wire and twist-ties thousands of times until architecture-like forms gradually emerge. Using modest, domestic materials sourced from my family, I embed personal history into a process driven by duration, endurance, and bodily limits. Having grown up in Korea and later immigrated alone to the U.S., I navigate conflicting cultural expectations around visibility, silence, and self-assertion. My work responds to this tension through quiet accumulation rather than overt expression. The resulting installations hover between shelter and barrier, activating space while making slow, sustained labor visible.
