Third Space
On exhibit in the Gallery at 3S Artspace:
December 5 – January 25
Opening Reception: Friday, December 5 // 5 – 8pm

Join us during the December Art ‘Round Town art walk to explore our new Gallery exhibit. The evening includes a live music set from Stu Dias, performing songs from the Diaspora Radio concert series, and small bites provided by Stella’s Cafe and Ohana Kitchen!

“Third Space” concludes 3S Artspace’s 10th anniversary year with an immersive, community-driven experience in the Gallery. The exhibit builds on the beloved success of our 2019 exhibition, “Room for Memory,” and is rooted in the social concept of a “third space” or “third place”—a welcoming environment beyond home and work. “Third Space” transforms the Gallery into a sanctuary of creativity, connection, and comfort during the holiday and winter season.

The exhibition features three unique lounge environments by invited designers and creatives:

• The Listening Room, curated by 3S, features papercutting interpretations of classic album covers created by artist Dylan Metrano made for the popular Diaspora Radio concert series held at The Press Room. Both his source papercuttings and the resulting promotional show posters will be on view.

• The Garden, curated by 3S Artspace Board Member and Gallery Committee Member,
Emily Leach, evokes the warmth and glow of a tropical garden in the cold days of New England winter. Featuring works by multiple regional artists, including Aurora Robson and Adrienne Elise Tarver, visitors to this room are surrounded by a magical world inspired by the outdoors where families and friends can retreat on bleak winter days to entertain, uplift, and rejuvenate.

• The Après Ski Lounge is curated by documentary film director, photographer, ski designer, and proud 3S Board Member, Harrison Buck. The Lounge features an exhibit, Four Edges to Freedom, with works by Buck in collaboration with tattoo artist Heather Quinn, Parlor Skis, and Dana Schultz. The room itself is a vessel, holding the arc of Buck’s creative journey from photographer to ski designer to documentary filmmaker— a love letter to the natural world and a conduit for human connection, design experimentation, and storytelling.

• Our community bar, 3S Barspace, joins together the three rooms, providing additional cozy space to gather during exhibition hours, before shows, for live music and DJ events, and more! Stay tuned for pop-up event announcements and co-working opportunities in the Gallery this winter season.
