Margaret Dwyer Watercolor Workshop: The Magic of Glazing
Thursday, June 19th from 10:30am-3:30pm
The Kittery Art Association Art Hub (Lower Level Studio Space)
2 Walker Street, Kittery, ME
Watercolor is a transparent medium that creates luminous colors when layered. The glazing technique allows for unique and saturated colors to emerge. When glazing is used effectively, it’s like turning on a light within the image. Color choices are important. This is a great opportunity to better understand the applications and different properties of transparent colors vs. opaques. Using a variety of techniques, we will create an “underpainting” to address values and whites. Next, we will move on to glazing with pure, transparent colors. Demonstrations will also address glazing opportunities for paintings already in progress. Feel free to bring in some work that may benefit from this magical, transformative technique. Enjoy learning in a relaxed setting as you broaden your knowledge of this incredible medium.
