Memorial Day Wreath Laying & Parade in Portsmouth
The city of Portsmouth will honor those who have died serving our country with the annual Wreath Laying Ceremony at Prescott Park on Friday at 11 a.m. The Memorial Day Parade follows on Monday at 1 p.m., starting at Richards and Parrott avenues, pausing at South Cemetery, and concluding at South Mill Pond.
Live music at The Press Room
Roots-rock band The Savtones gets the weekend rolling with guest KindVolt at The Press Room in Portsmouth on Friday at 6 p.m. ($15-$18). Then, DJ Soup leads a Spongebob Rave at 10 p.m. ($15-$20). On Saturday night at 8 p.m., the Skunk Sessions Psychedelic Circus presents The Music of Bob Dylan Reimagined ($20-$25). The weekend ends on a noisy note when Breakaway presents an all-ages show featuring hardcore punk and metal bands Machine Country, Void Bringer, Sight, and Youth In Asia on Sunday at 8 p.m. ($20). Deep Blue C Studio Orchestra at STAR Theatre
Under the direction of Dave “Doc” Vose, the Deep Blue C Studio Orchestra will offer an uplifting musical performance featuring a myriad of soul, R&B, pop, jazz, and disco favorites at STAR Theatre in the Kittery Community Center on Friday from 6-8 p.m. Tickets are $28-$45. Learn more here.
Caitlin Peluffo at The Music Hall Lounge
Having made appearances on Comedy Central Stand-Up Featuring, Don’t Tell Comedy, the Late Show with James Corden, Late Show with Stephen Colbert, After Midnight on CBS, and more, Caitlin Peluffo is a comic on the rise. She’ll perform at The Music Hall Lounge in Portsmouth on Thursday at 7 p.m., Friday at 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m., and Saturday at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $23-$33. Learn more here.
Music, art, and theater at Newmarket Millspace
Get into the weekend groove with a performance from former Congressman Paul Hodes and The Blue Buddha Band at Newmarket Millspace on Friday at 7 p.m. ($15). Alternative artists, crafters, and businesses from across the region will set up in the Millspace during the NH Alt Market on Saturday from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. (free admission). Two live shows on the Button Factory Stage
Award-winning singer-songwriter Katie Dobbins and Timbear will share the Button Factory Stage at WSCA Portsmouth Community Radio on Friday at 7:30 p.m. ($10-$15). An evening of folk and pop-punk follows on Saturday with Ella Corinna, Sierra of fun city fan club, and innnni at 7:30 p.m. ($15-$20). Learn more here.
Reggae Night at the Portsmouth Gas Light Co.
The Portsmouth Gas Light Co.’s Third Floor Nightclub is dialing up the positive vibrations with a Reggae Night party on Friday at 9 p.m. The lineup features DJ Koko, DJ Krypton, and Big Rizz, plus guest DJs and live performances. Tickets are $20-$30. Learn more here.
Summer Patio Party at The Stone Church

Get the Led Out at the Casino Ballroom

An all-star cast of musicians will present A Tribute to Royal Ladies of Blues & Soul at Jimmy’s Jazz & Blues Club in Portsmouth on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. The concert will feature hit songs by the likes of KokoTaylor, Aretha Franklin, Ruth Brown, Etta James, Big Mama Thornton, Gladys Knight, and others.
