The Rockingham Choral Society will perform two holiday concerts on Saturday, December 2 and Sunday, December 3 both at 3:00 p.m. at Christ Church Episcopal in Exeter, NH.
The program will feature A Winter Day by Sarah Quartel; Carols and Lullabies: Christmas in the Southwest by Conrad Susa; “O Come all Ye Faithful” arranged by Dan Forrest; “Hark the Herald Angels Sing” arranged by Dan Forrest; and “What Sweeter Music” by Michael Fink. The choir will also perform a selection of short early American pieces including some first published in Exeter, NH including “Lovely Vine” by Benjamin Parker; and “Slow Traveler” by Jeremiah Ingalls.
“We’re particularly excited about the program for our December concerts this year. A Winter Day celebrates the long Canadian winter and features sumptuous writing for choir, cello, and piano while Carols and Lullabies has an accompanying ensemble of harp, classical guitar, and marimba,” notes Johnson. “It’s particularly exciting to be able to perform a selection of pieces with roots in Exeter.”

Since 1957, the Rockingham Choral Society has expanded and enhanced cultural experiences by performing choral masterpieces and adhering to the highest musical standards. The Choral Society is comprised of over 95 members and presents two concerts annually to the audiences in the New Hampshire Seacoast region.
The choir is under the direction of Kristofer Johnson, director of choirs at Phillips Exeter Academy. Accompanying the choir is Jeannie F. Goodwin. Goodwin is a professional accompanist who maintains an active piano studio. She is a member of the Music Teacher’s National Association and is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire.
