Jeremiah Messer and Friends CJ Lewis and Dave Ogden
@ The Button Factory Stage – 909 Islington Street Portsmouth NH 03801
Is he man, or is he piano? With Jeremiah Messer, the answer is never quite clear. Except that he is clearly just a man who really likes to play piano. After a lifetime at the instrument, he hopes to one day get good. Until then, he’ll just keep trying to embody the depth and range of the instrument, with a repertoire of originals and covers that crib liberally from jazz, soul, funk and (honestly) just a bunch of Randy Newman. Don’t get between him and the keys. He will go feral.
Dave Ogden’s deep catalogue of originals reflect his love of the craft of song-writing, his devotion to guitar and his encyclopedic knowledge of popular music. If it happened in rock, folk or popular music in the 60s, 70s, 80s or 90s, he knows about it. This expertise, paired with his impeccable ear, also make him a legendary open mic host. He hears the potential in all the artists who sign up to play, and he uses his open mics to nurture creativity and build musical communities that deepen the entire New Hampshire scene.
CJ Lewis is a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from the NH Seacoast who’s been performing regionally and locally for over 20 years. His original music is a rootsy folk-rock blend of americana-laced storytelling and soulful improvisation. In addition to performing live, CJL composes, writes, and music directs for both the stage and the screen, and was nominated for a Boston Regional Emmy Award in 2022. He’s also the music director and lead guitarist for local favorite, The Amanda Dane Band.
Tickets are $10 Online and $15 at the door.
