Chief Adjuah (Formerly Christian Scott) at Jimmy’s

Jimmy’s Jazz & Blues Club
135 Congress St
Portsmouth, NH 03801 United States

Chief Adjuah (formerly Christian Scott) is a two-time Edison Award winner, six-time Grammy nominee, and recipient of the Doris Duke Award in the Arts. A visionary trumpeter, composer, producer, and instrument designer, Adjuah is the creator of “Stretch Music”—a genre-defying style praised by NPR as “ushering in a new era of jazz.”

He’s collaborated with legends like Prince, Thom Yorke, Mos Def, and Robert Glasper, and scored music for major films and campaigns including Bill & Ted Face the Music and BMW’s #fortheXminded series. As Grand Griot of New Orleans and Chieftain of the Xodokan Nation, Adjuah merges ancestral tradition with bold innovation.

With 13 studio albums and a string of global honors, his work spans music, tech, film, and education. He’s also a dedicated activist and mentor, supporting youth, cultural preservation, and social justice. Whether live or recorded, Adjuah continues to expand the possibilities of sound and storytelling.
