100K Poets, Musicians and Artists for Change present “Art of Hope and Resistance”
The annual 100 Thousand Poets and Musicians for Change, a community celebration of poetry, art, and music, will return to the Seacoast on Saturday, September 26th. This year’s “Art of Hope and Resistance” will take place at the historic Exeter Town Hall Gallery, on the second floor, 10 Front Street, from noon-3, and all are welcome to attend. It will be sponsored by the Poetry Society of NH and the Arts Resistance Collaborative of Exeter.
100 Thousand Poets for Change (100TPC) is an international grassroots movement where poets, musicians, and visual artists organize concurrent local events to promote peace, sustainability, justice, and social change. Founded in 2011 by Michael Rothenberg and Terri Carrion, the initiative centers around a global day of action held annually in late September. Several local musicians will join celebrated poets who will be reading their work and that of others.
This year they will be joined by Exeter’s pro-democracy visual artist group, the Arts Resistance Collaborative (ARC), whose work will be on display. Their mission is to create a community for arts expression as a response to social and political injustice. More about this group can be found at artsresistancecoll.bsky.social
The artists are asking attendees to bring donations of food for kid-friendly quick meals such as cereal, jelly, crackers, mac and cheese, juice boxes, as well as personal care items like dish soap or toilet paper that they will take to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Exeter.
