The Big Easy Roots & Gospel Fest will celebrate the sounds of New Orleans while raising money for a worthy cause. The festival, presented by ProjectMusicWorks, takes place on Sunday, April 19, at the Regatta Room in Eliot, Maine.
The festival features three Seacoast bands: New Orleans-flavored octet Soggy Po’ Boys, Americana and gospel group The RMS Five, and 30-member gospel choir Rock My Soul. There will also be hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar, a silent auction, and a 50/50 raffle.
Proceeds from the event benefit ProjectMusicWorks, a nonprofit that performs free outreach concerts at hospice, homeless shelters, nursing homes, rehab programs, jails, and other facilities.
A reception begins at 3 p.m. and the concert starts at 4 p.m. at the Regatta Room, located at 29 Levesque Drive (the Eliot Commons). Advance tickets are $25 per person, $20 each for a table of 10, or $30 for VIP seating. The event is free for children under 12; tickets at the door are $30. For tickets and more information, call 207-450-8016 or visit projectmusicworks.org.
