Live music and theater is available this weekend in safe, socially-distanced spaces. Here are some of the highlights.
Shows at The Word Barn Meadow
If you have not grabbed tickets to any concerts at The Word Barn Meadow in Exeter this weekend, let this be a lesson to you: secure your tickets early! Maine-based country-rockers The Mallett Brothers Band plays two shows on Friday, and indie folk-pop singer-songwriter Lady Lamb plays two shows on Saturday. All Together Now: Zachary Williams
The All Together Now concert series is an unprecedented collaboration between The Music Hall, 3S Artspace, and the Prescott Park Arts Festival, benefiting all three Portsmouth arts organizations. First up in the series is singer-songwriter Zachary Williams, a Nashville native best known as front man of the Americana band The Lone Bellow. He’ll play two shows at The Music Hall on Friday at 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tickets are $25-$60. Learn more here.
‘Rent’ at Spencer-Peirce-Little Farm
The Firehouse Center for the Arts in Newburyport kicks off a series of outdoor summer productions with “Rent.” The Broadway hit, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary, will be staged on the grounds of the historic Spencer-Peirce-Little Farm in Newbury, Mass., May 14-23. Show times are 6:30 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Thursday. Tickets are sold by the “pod,” each fitting up to four people. Pods are $30-$50. Learn more here.
Rockspring: Live Under the Arch
The Music Hall continues its outdoor Under the Arch concert series on Chestnut Street in Portsmouth with back-to-back performances by Rockspring. The local string band, which plays an energetic blend of bluegrass, rock, folk, country, and pop, will perform two shows on Saturday from 6-7 p.m. and 8-9 p.m. Tickets are sold by the table (table for two: $60; table for four: $120; table for six: $180. Dub Apocalypse at The Stone Church
Tickets are going fast, but there are still a few seats left to see Dub Apocalypse at The Stone Church in Newmarket on Saturday from 10 p.m. to midnight. Led by drummer Tommy Benedetti and guitarist Johnny Trama, the instrumental dub reggae band has become an exceptionally popular act in the greater Boston region.
