“Women Being” at Green Acre
Seven Quebecois women and their seven children will present an inclusive dance performing honoring women and children in Eliot this weekend. “Women Being” takes place on the Green Acre campus on Friday from 5-6:30 p.m. Tickets are $5-$30. Learn more here.
Live music at The Press Room
As usual, there’s lots of live music happening at The Press Room in Portsmouth. You can start the weekend early with singer-songwriter Sophie Patenaude and guest Toby McAllister on Thursday at 7 p.m. ($15-$20). Keep it going with Grammy-nominated songwriter Reed Foehl and guest Mike Maurice on Friday at 6:30 p.m. ($25-$30). Later that night, DJ Rh3tt takes over the turntables at 10:30 p.m. ($10). Hometown indie-folk heroes Sneaky Miles play a special record release show on Saturday at 8 p.m. ($25-$30). There’s one more weekend of outdoor shows at The Word Barn Meadow in Exeter before the music moves indoors for fall. Indie favorite Lady Lamb starts things off on Friday from 7-9 p.m. ($25). Singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Tim Eriksen follows on Sunday from 7-9 p.m. ($25). Also, Kolika Chatterjee facilitates a Stained Glass Honeycomb Workshop in the barn on Sunday from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. ($160). Learn more here.
The Family Hodes at the Kittery Art Association
Maine-based artists Peggo and Paul Hodes will be joined by their talented daughter, singer-songwriter Ariana Hodes, and their long-time musical colleague Kent Allyn for a concert at the Kittery Art Association’s gallery on Friday from 7:30-9 p.m. Tickets are $15. Learn more here.
Dancing and music at The Rockingham Ballroom
Instructors from 603 Line Dance will lead another monthly line dancing lesson, followed by a DJ dance party, at The Rockingham Ballroom in Newmarket on Friday at 8 p.m. ($15). Fresh off his recent performance with folk legend Tom Rush at the Prescott Park Arts Festival, singer-songwriter Brendan Cleary will set up shop at The Music Hall Lounge in Portsmouth for a pair of intimate concerts on Thursday at 7 p.m. and Friday at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20-$30. Learn more here.
