Live music, theater, dancing, and more await you this weekend. Here are some highlights.

Line Dancing at The Rockingham Ballroom

The second Friday of the month means a high-energy night of line dancing at The Rockingham Ballroom in Newmarket. Instructors from 603 Line Dance will guide you through the basics before a set of DJ music spanning country, pop, rock, and funk. Lessons start at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15. Learn more here.

“Seeing Violet” at The Players’ Ring

The Players’ Ring is ready to host the world premiere of Peter Snoad’s award-winning new play “Seeing Violet.” Directed by Sandi Clark Kaddy, the drama explores memory, reckoning, and the cost of looking away. It will be on stage in Portsmouth through Jan. 25. Show times are Thursdays at 7 p.m., Fridays at 7:30 p.m., Saturdays at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $29-$32. Brass and blues at Jimmy’s

The weekend brings three nights of world-class music to Jimmy’s Jazz & Blues Club in Portsmouth. Trumpet sensation Maurice MOBETTA Brown kicks things off on Friday at 7:30 p.m. ($22-$75). A tribute to the Three Kings of the Blues follows on Saturday at 7:30 p.m., featuring the  music of B.B., Albert, and Freddy King ($65-$76). The LowDown Brass Band brings the music culture of Chicago to town on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. ($22-$44).

Entrain at 3S Artspace

Formed in 1993, Martha’s Vineyard-based rock band Entrain’s collective resume includes stints with Bo Diddley, Carly Simon, Chuck Berry, Southside Johnny, James Mongomery, and Blood, Sweat, and Tears. They’ll perform live at 3S Artspace in Portsmouth on Friday at 8 p.m. Tickets are $25-$30. Learn more here.

Three Seacoast originals join forces at WSCA Radio in Portsmouth on Friday. Norwood, Willing Seeds, and Cold Signal Fires share the Button Factory Stage on Friday at 8 p.m. ($10-$15). Luke Winslow-King at The Music Hall Lounge

Saturday night is gonna be a party at The Press Room in Portsmouth. First, at 7 p.m., Boston-based tribute act Heart Attack Ack Ack Ack Ack Ack plays a bunch of rocking Billy Joel covers ($20-$25).
