Art ‘Round Town in Portsmouth

Among the highlights of this month’s Art ‘Round Town gallery walk in downtown Portsmouth are opening receptions for Brooklyn-based artist Ezra Wube’s “Ecorhizome Stories” (above) at 3S Artspace, as well as the group exhibition “A Touch of Red” at the Kennedy Gallery. Art ‘Round Town takes place on Friday from 5-8 p.m.

Art, music, and owls at The Word Barn

Get an early start on the weekend with Rachel Sumner and Traveling Light at The Word Barn in Exeter on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. ($25). On Saturday, artist Jennifer Jarvis hosts Paint Your Peace, a painting workshop for your creative wellness, from 10-11:30 a.m. ($65). Blues-rock guitarist Emanuel Casablanca gets the weekend started early with guest Lee & Dr. G at The Press Room in Portsmouth on Thursday at 7 p.m. ($20-$25). Back-to-back tribute shows follow: A Strange Day celebrates the music of Joy Division in Transmission on Friday at 7:30 p.m. ($20-$23), and Recent History plays Weezer’s Blue Album and other hits with guest Way of the Headband on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. ($15-$20). “Twelfth Night” at The Players’ Ring

Director Julia Sommer honors Shakespeare’s language and story while embracing a bold, fast-paced, visually captivating style in The Player’s Ring’s upcoming production of “Twelfth Night.” The comedy is on stage in Portsmouth from Feb. 6-22. Showtimes are Thursdays at 7 p.m., Fridays at 7:30 p.m., Saturdays at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $29-$32. Learn more here.

Local rhythm and soul band Kouchera presents a special pre-Valentine’s show titled All In Love Is Fair at WSCA Radio in Portsmouth on Friday at 7 p.m. ($10-$15).
