It’s going to be another difficult winter for local artists and arts organizations. So get vaccinated, get boosted, and support local arts! Here are some of this weekend’s happenings.

Art ‘Round Town in Portsmouth

Portsmouth’s downtown gallery walk returns in 2022 on the first Friday of each month from 5-8 p.m. Among the highlights of Art ‘Round Town this Friday is an opening reception for “Flow: Piscataqua River and Sky Paintings” at the Kennedy Gallery, featuring landscapes in oils by local artist Christopher Volpe. ‘And the Winner Is’ at The Players’ Ring

Mitch Albom’s comedy “And the Winner Is” follows an Oscar-nominated actor who dies the day before the awards — but cuts a deal to return for the big night. It’s at The Players’ Ring in Portsmouth Jan. 7-23. Show times are Fridays at 7:30 p.m., Saturdays at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m., and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $22-$25. Learn more here.

Two concerts at The Stone Church

Good times will be rolling all weekend long at The Stone Church in Newmarket. Classic funk and soul cover band Queen City Soul takes the stage on Friday at 9 p.m. ($10). Portland-based jam band Sal Johnson & The Crowded Table plays with openers Sneaky Miles and Eagle in the Attic on Saturday at 8 p.m. ($12). Learn more here.

‘Where Everybody Is Somebody’ at 3S

“More than anything, I like a good story. And I try to tell one in a direct way, with humor and a punch line, if possible,” says photographer Henry Horenstein. His work is on display in “Where Everybody Is Somebody” at 3S Artspace in Portsmouth. It runs through March 20, with an artist reception on Saturday from 5-8 p.m. Learn more here.

NHSPA Member Exhibit and Sale

The New Hampshire Society of Photographic Artists presents its 22nd annual member exhibit and sale at the Exeter Town Hall Gallery from Jan. 9-30. Fine-art photographers from around the state will display work reflecting a variety of styles and techniques. There is an opening reception on Sunday from 12-4 p.m. Learn more here.
