Comedy, music, dance, dog films — we’ve got all the bases covered with upcoming events. Here are some highlights.
Trevor Noah at the Casino Ballroom
When he’s not hosting “The Daily Show” on Comedy Central, comedian Trevor Noah is often performing stand-up specials and touring the world. Born in South Africa, Noah has performed on five continents and won awards for his work on TV and as an author. He’ll bring his Loud and Clear Tour to the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom on Friday, Aug. 9, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $57 for general admission, ranging up to $137 for reserved seating. Learn more here.
NY Dog Film Festival at The Music Hall
When it comes to pet videos, cats are king. We feel this is an injustice, as dogs deserve equal time in the limelight. Fortunately, some remarkable canines will be on the big screen at The Music Hall in Portsmouth during the annual NY Dog Film Festival, taking place Friday, Aug. 9, at 7 p.m. The event features animated, documentary, and narrative short films, with proceeds benefiting local animal welfare groups. Tickets are $15. For more information, click here.
Annex Contemporary Dance Company
The Seacoast’s premier resident professional dance company returns to The Dance Hall in Kittery for a performance on Friday, Aug. 9, at 7:30 p.m. Based at The Dance Annex Studio in Kittery, the Annex Contemporary Dance Company consists of local dance professionals directed by Julie Hebb. They’ll present past repertory and new work with surprise guest artists at The Dance Hall. Tickets are $16 in advance or $20 at the door. For more information, click here.
Sidney Lindner at The Press Room
Sidney Lindner was once a beloved staple of the Seacoast music scene, helming bands like Torrez and The Hotel Alexis. Lindner has since moved out West, but he’ll return to The Press Room in Portsmouth with his band, The Silver Wilderness Collective, on Saturday, Aug. 10, at 9 p.m. The show serves as a release party for his new album, “Summer Ghosts / Nightfalls,” which features several local musicians. Eastern Sleds opens. Tickets are $7-$10. Learn more here.
