Dunfey Exhibition at N.H. Art Association

Among the highlights of Art ‘Round Town on Friday is the New Hampshire Art Association’s 26th annual Joan L. Dunfey Open Juried Exhibition. Up Close & Funny at The Players’ Ring

Get cozy and settle in for some laughs at The Players’ Ring in Portsmouth on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Presented by Mike’d Up Comedy Productions, Up Close & Funny will feature standup sets from headliner Christine Hurley (aka the Queen of Boston Comedy) and opener Zach Morin with host Mike Koutrobis. Two acts that have long been local favorites — both known for their New Orleans-flavored music — will perform on back-to-back nights at The Dance Hall in Kittery. Indie rockers from near and far will take the Button Factory Stage at WSCA Radio in Portsmouth this weekend. Local power trio Kong Moon headlines with Dummy Ache on Friday at 8 p.m. ($10-$15). Long Autumn at The Stone Church

The Stone Church is hosting a night of high-octane sounds in Newmarket on Friday at 8 p.m. Boston-based headliner Long Autumn will showcase its dream-pop-meets-alt-rock sound after an opening set from regional heroes Slay the Giants, a new-aged thrash-metal crew with local roots. “Morning’s at Seven” at N.H. Theatre Project

New Hampshire Theatre Project is launching its new Play Readings for Grown-ups series this weekend in Portsmouth. First up is Paul Osborn’s “Morning’s at Seven,” about four aging sisters living in a small Midwestern town in 1928. Avalyn Reed Trio: A Night at the Opera
