Art ‘Round Town in Portsmouth

The Art ‘Round Town gallery walk on Friday will feature receptions for several shows in downtown Portsmouth from 5-8 p.m. The Kennedy Gallery will introduce “Marking Time in the Wild,” featuring oil paintings by Roy Stever, while the New Hampshire Art Association presents “Fledgling: Artists Under 30” at the Robert Lincoln Levy Gallery.

Two concerts at The Word Barn

Two top roots music acts split the bill at The Word Barn on Friday. North Carolina’s Chatham Rabbits and Boston’s Rachel Sumner & Traveling Light perform from 7-9 p.m. ($20). On Sunday, singer-songwriters Kelly Willis, Brennen Leigh, and Melissa Carper join forces for an amazing night of music from 7-9 p.m. ($25). Learn more here.

Tony V at the Rio & McCue’s

One of Boston’s top comics will be in Portsmouth for two standup performances on Friday night. Tony V, once named the “Funniest Person in Massachusetts,” will be at the Rio Tequila Cantina with guest Cher Lynn from 7-8:30 p.m. ($20) and at McCue’s Comedy Club with Lynn and host Liam Hales from 8-9:30 p.m. ($20). Veronica Lewis at Jimmy’s

New Hampshire native Veronica Lewis graduated from high school less than two years ago but has already piled up plenty of accomplishments, including two Blues Music Award nominations. Songs by The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Neil Young, and Bob Marley are among those featured in the repertoire of Clifford Cameron’s Vinyl Quartet. Live music at The Stone Church

The Stone Church is bringing some world-class funk to Newmarket with two concerts this weekend. Avant-funk duo Soule Monde will headline with special guest Skunk Jesus on Friday from 8-11 p.m. ($20). Sophistafunk will blend funk, hip-hop, and positive vibes with special guest Lee Ross on Saturday at 9 p.m. ($16). Learn more here.

Watchhouse (duo) at The Music Hall

Andrew Marlin and Emily Frantz of Watchhouse (formerly known as Mandolin Orange) released an album as a duo last summer, and now the two singers and string instrumentalists are touring the nation. Regional rock at WSCA

WSCA Portsmouth Community Radio is showcasing regional rock this weekend. On Friday from 8-11 p.m., New York trio Pons (featuring two drummers) headlines with area acts Dog Lips, Gaud, and Lahnah ($10). On Saturday from 8-11 p.m., Chazz plays an album release show with guests Five Feet and She Who Weeps ($10). Learn more here.

Laugh Riot at The Rockingham Ballroom

Laugh Riot’s monthly standup comedy night at The Rockingham Ballroom in Newmarket features a stellar lineup on Friday from 7:30-10:30 p.m. Seasoned headliners Steve Scarfo (above) and Steve Bjork will get support from newcomer John Baglio, following an opening set from musical act Tim Bear. The Last Waltz at The Press Room

An assemblage of Seacoast musicians will recreate one of the greatest concerts ever recorded at The Press Room in Portsmouth this weekend.
