Local entertainment is the remedy for another cold weekend on the Seacoast. Here are some highlights.

“Tempus Carnival” at Pontine Theatre

Puppeteer Sarah Frechette of Puppetkabob keeps Pontine Theatre’s season going with her fantastical show “Tempus Carnival,” about a spirit that can freeze a moment in time. It’s on stage in Portsmouth this weekend with performances on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $29-$32. Learn more here.

Primo Cubano at The Dance Hall

Maine-based act Primo Cubano is once again bringing the irresistible rhythms of traditional Cuban dance music to the stage of The Dance Hall in Kittery. Loaded with horns, strings, and percussion, the band will perform live on Friday from 7:30-10:30 p.m. Tickets are $12-$25. Learn more here.

Nerd-rock party at WSCA Radio

Karen Morgan at the Lounge

Comedian Karen Morgan, the author of two specials on Dry Bar Comedy, will perform in Portsmouth on Friday night. The Maine resident and former trial attorney —and one-time finalist on Nickelodeon’s Search for the Funniest Mom in America — will be at The Music Hall Lounge at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $26-$36. The Rigometrics are settling in for two nights of rock at The Press Room in Portsmouth. Night One also features guest Saguaro on Thursday at 8 p.m.; Night Two brings the Caylin Costello Band on Friday at 9 p.m. ($15-$18). Brooklyn-born indie-folk band Drown Your Boots follows with Jack Shea on Saturday at 8 p.m. ($18-$20). Seacoast Skating with the Stars

Local celebs will take to the ice at Labrie Family Skate at Puddle Dock Pond for Seacoast Skating with the Stars on Saturday at 2 p.m. Each Seacoast “star” is partnered with a professional from Ice Dance International for a skate-off before esteemed judges and audience voters in Portsmouth. Comedy night at Newmarket Millspace

Comedian Samantha Christen will showcase her unique Los Angeles-to-the-Seacoast brand of humor during a night of laughter at the Newmarket Millspace on Saturday night. Prog-rock show at The Stone Church

Art and stories at The Word Barn

Artist Molly Meng will teach you to design and carve your own stamp for printing on fabric or paper during a Block Printing Workshop at The Word Barn in Exeter on Sunday from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. ($85). Boston guitarists Ryan Taylor and Johnny Trama have put together a superstar collective of East Coast musicians to pay tribute to The Allman Brothers Band, and they’ll ramble into Portsmouth on Sunday night.
