Adam Weiner (aka Low Cut Connie) plays a solo show on Saturday at 7 p.m. ($20-$25), followed by late-night indie dance music with DJ: Lunch at 10:30 p.m. ($10). “Girls and Boys” at The Players’ Ring
Local actor Constance Witman takes the spotlight in Dennis Kelly’s potent one-woman play “Girls and Boys,” on stage at The Players’ Ring in Portsmouth from April 10-19. Directed by Ben Bagley, show times this weekend are Friday at 7:30 p.m., Saturday at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. (The Sunday matinee will be followed by an optional talkback with the director and cast.) Two big shows at WSCA Radio
Aaron Waldman’s dream-pop project Exact Same Speed shares the Button Factory Stage with opener Owen Shepcaro at WSCA Radio in Portsmouth on Friday at 8 p.m. ($10-$15). On Saturday from 5-10 p.m., a lineup of talented local artists and musicians perform at Spring Thing, beginning with local rock bands The Jerritones, New Norde, and Creator DGM, followed by an afterparty with emcees Mark G and Citizen Kane ($10-$15). Hear live readings, attend panel discussions, meet local authors, and buy their books at the third annual Rochester Authors Fair, taking place outdoors at the Hanson Pines Pavilion on Saturday from 1-4 p.m. This year’s keynote speaker is J.R. Roots to Sky at St. John’s Church
Next up in the Concerts on the Hill series is a collaborative performance with singer Moira Smiley and the Rasa String Quartet. Titled Roots to Sky, the program explores the space where classical and folk traditions intersect.
