The Landladys play musical chairs

Music

All four members of The Landladys are singers, songwriters, and multi-instrumentalists, and each is lending his full array of talents to the band’s forthcoming album.

The group, which formed about three years ago, consists of local musicians Guy Capecelatro III, Seth Gooby, Mike Wolstat, and Peter Squires. Their sophomore effort, “20 Year Reunion,” is due out in late August or early September, and they’ve got a release show scheduled for Sept. 17 at The Red Door in Portsmouth.

All four band members wrote songs for the new album, and they swap instruments and trade lead singing duties on every track. The result, the band reports, is a truly diverse indie-rock recording.

“Because each song has a different singer, songwriter, and orientation of who’s playing which instrument, no two songs sound quite the same,” Squires said in an email.

The music for the new project is finished, but the band is still working on the album art, and they could use some help: If you’ve got a spare toupee that you’re willing to lend, The Landladys need one for their album cover shoot. Find them at facebook.com/thelandladys. — Matt Kanner
