Barefoot Truth frontman Will Evans gets the weekend started early at The Word Barn Meadow in Exeter with a show on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. ($25). Then the Jamie McLean Band brings a mix of soul, roots, and blues to the outdoor stage on Friday from 7-9 p.m. ($25). Tribute shows at The Press Room
The Press Room in Portsmouth is hosting three tribute shows over the next four nights, starting with Diaspora Radio‘s live rendition of The Strokes’ 2001 breakthrough album “Is This It” on Thursday at 9 p.m. ($15-$20). An all-star ensemble of local acts present A Super Fine JOHN PRINE Time on Saturday at 7 p.m. ($18-$23). And Big Yellow Taxi recreates Joni Mitchell’s 1974 live album “Miles of Aisles” on Sunday at 7 p.m. ($22-$27). Learn more here.

Summer is still going strong at the Prescott Park Arts Festival in Portsmouth. Beloved singer-songwriter Langhorne Slim performs with guest Dwayne Higgins on Friday at 7 p.m. Gritty acoustic trio The Devil Makes Three headlines with opener The Wolff Sisters on Saturday at 7 p.m. There’s a $20 suggested donation; table and blanket reservations are available. Green Day’s American Idiot at the Seacoast Rep
Get ready for a high octane, energy-fueled rock opera at the Seacoast Repertory Theatre in Portsmouth. “Green Day’s American Idiot” is on stage from Aug. 27 through Sept. 27. The fifth annual Seacoast Food Truck Festival will bring a large lineup of food trucks, local beverages, live music, and kids activities to the Old Navy lot at the Kittery Outlets on Saturday from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Admission is $5; a portion of proceeds benefits Kittery Youth Lacrosse.
