Public hearing on budget

Portsmouth residents can offer feedback on the city’s proposed $101.4 million 2016 budget at a public hearing scheduled for Wednesday, May 20 at 6:30 p.m. at city hall. The budget is up $2.8 million over the 2015 budget of $98.6 million. The proposed budget would increase the city’s tax rate by 48 cents to $18.58 per $1,000 of assessed property value. A council work session on the budget is also scheduled for Tuesday, May 26 at 6:30 p.m. at city hall. — Larry Clow
