Master plan study circles begin

News

Portsmouth Listens is looking for a few good volunteers as the city begins to review and revise Portsmouth’s master plan.

The city updates its master plan every 10 years, and the last update occurred in 2005. To prepare for the latest update, Portsmouth Listens will convene study circles — small groups of eight to 15 residents — to discuss what worked and what didn’t during the last master plan revision and what the city’s vision should be for 2025. The circles will meet throughout April and May and present their findings to the planning board on May 29.

The official kick-off is on April 15. Between now and then, Portsmouth Listens is recruiting volunteers for the circles and to canvass neighborhoods on Saturday, April 11. To sign up, visit portsmouthlistens.org. The planning department will host a master plan kickoff meeting on Wednesday, April 15 at 6 p.m. at 3S Artspace, 319 Vaughan St., where residents and city officials can talk about goals for the plan. — Larry Clow
