Maine launches senior farmshare program

Riverside Farm Stand and Greenhouse in North Berwick, Maine is taking applications for Maine’s senior farmshare program. The state offers low-income seniors $50 in credit to purchase fruits and vegetables at local farms. To qualify, applicants must be 60 or older, live in Maine, and have an income below $21,590 if living alone or a combined income of $29,101 if living with a partner.

Applications are available on Thursday, April 9 at 11 a.m. at Foxwells,
21 Manson Ave., in Kittery, and at 1 p.m. at Baron Place, 151 Beech Road in Eliot; and on Friday, April 10 at 9:30 a.m. at Yorkshire Commons, 161 York St., in York, and at 11 a.m. at Pine Grove, 117 Long Sands Road in York. Seniors can also apply at the Riverside Farm Stand, located at 323 Elm St. in North Berwick, April 16-20 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Email farmerdave@riversidefarmstand.com for information. — Larry Clow
