Variously called Three Tree Island, Five Tree Island, Gray’s Island, Outer Island Long’s Island, today Four Tree Island is not even technically an island, being joined to Peirce Island by a pedestrian causeway.
The park, whatever its name, features great views of the Memorial Bridge, Piscataqua River, Portsmouth Fish Pier, and Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.
Open from dawn to dusk, the island includes a dozen large BBQ area, picnic tables and a grassy play, and public restrooms, which are open during the late spring, summer and early fall.
