Portsmouth’s planning department will host an Islington Street corridor design charette beginning on Friday, Feb. 20, at the Frank Jones Center, located at 400 Route 1 Bypass. The workshop, which will be held through Monday, Feb. 23, will include meetings, roundtable discussions and idea-sharing sessions for the neighborhood. The resulting ideas will be incorporated into a “vision plan” that will guide character-based zoning for the area, according to the planning department.
Discussions and review sessions will be held on Friday at 6 p.m.; Saturday, Feb. 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and Sunday, Feb. 22 at 6 p.m. All events are open to the public; residents can also stop by during “open studio hours” each day from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 23. A closing presentation will be held at city hall on Monday at 6 p.m. For more information, visit planportsmouth.com. — Larry Clow
