Pulling a fall look from Seacoast stores

Editor’s note: Fashion blogger and Portsmouth native Kristin Scott (pictured) was asked to put together an ideal outfit for the season, entirely from local boutiques. Here’s what she found.

Fall is about layers and comfort. With crisp mornings and cool evenings surrounding a warm day, fall is one of my favorite seasons. Given such varied temperatures, it’s helpful to be prepared for anything. With that in mind, this outfit is quintessential fall.

This look favors more natural tones, allowing the contouring to highlight natural features. The lipstick provides an opportunity to show off unique personality and style. Pictured here is a berry color, which complements the brown and green fall tones.

A pair of earrings is a wonderful accessory that can bring out the complimentary colors of an outfit, while also standing on their own accord. Earrings are simple to throw on and can be a statement piece of an outfit. This particular pair does both. First, it gives the outfit a nice pop of color with the stone in the middle. Second, it is one more aspect to make this look unique.

A large part of being comfortable is having a fabric that feels nice, and this shirt is no exception. The fabric almost feels like velvet. The sleeves can either be left down or rolled up and fastened with a handy button. This green is the perfect color for fall.

Jeans are a must for any time of year, but fall is the season where they really shine. Their versatility allows a seamless transition from work to an event with friends. This particular pair has a higher waist for extra comfort and vintage style.

Everyone needs a pair of brown boots, especially to go with fall colors. The color is standard, but the cut is how to make it work with your personal style. The folded fabric across the front of the shoe and the buckle on the side give it a little flash. Perfect for daytime or evening wear — a recurring theme in this outfit.
