Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouse is now open for tours by reservation. Come experience the history and the most breathtaking view on the New Hampshire Seacoast!

After three seasons of being closed to the public, Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouse is once again welcoming visitors—and we cannot wait to show you around.

Step inside one of the Seacoast’s most iconic landmarks and experience Portsmouth Harbor from a whole new perspective. Your tour begins when one of our experienced guides meets you at Coast Guard Station Portsmouth Harbor and escorts you to the lighthouse. At the base of the tower, you will discover the fascinating history of the site and its vital role in guiding vessels through the busy waters of the Piscataqua River.

Then, make your way inside the lighthouse to learn how generations of keepers kept the light burning and helped mariners navigate the harbor safely. Climb the 44 stairs to enjoy unforgettable views of Portsmouth Harbor, Whaleback Lighthouse, Wood Island Life Saving Station, Pepperrell Cove, and the surrounding coastline.

Please note that access to the lighthouse includes two short (seven steps) stairways and a walk of about 60 feet across a flat, stony beach. Proper footwear is required – no sandals, flip-flops, or high heels. The minimum height to climb the lighthouse is 42 inches. Space is limited, so reserve your place and take advantage of this special opportunity to visit Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouse. Your ticket purchase helps us preserve this jewel of the Seacoast

Tours are $25 per person.
