COAST hearings set

Seacoast residents will have a chance to weigh in on COAST’s plan to eliminate its Route 7 bus service at a series of public meetings beginning on March 31.

Officials with the bus company have proposed ending the route, which connects Portsmouth, Newington, Greenland, Newmarket, Stratham, and Exeter, due to a lack of “political and financial support” in some communities along the route.

Meetings will be held on Tuesday, March 31, at Great Bay Community College’s Pease Campus at 11 a.m., and at Newmarket Town Hall at 3 p.m. Two meetings will be held at the Exeter Public Library on Wednesday, April 1 at 6:30 p.m., and Thursday, April 2 at 3:30 p.m. The public will be able to comment on the proposed route changes at the meetings.

COAST’s board of directors will make a final decision on the route about a month after the meetings. For more information, call 603-743-5777. — Larry Clow
