Music

The first Portsmouth Singer Songwriter Festival took place in the spring of 2012. The multi-day event featured legends like Merle Haggard and Rosanne Cash alongside local and regional performers, all onstage at The Music Hall and The Music Hall Loft.

Last week, The Music Hall announced that Citizen Cope will headline the fourth annual festival, which takes place April 16-18. Cope’s headlining set takes place on Saturday, April 18. The full festival lineup will be announced soon.

Citizen Cope is a singer-songwriter, guitarist and producer who plays a blend of folk, soul, and blues. He’s put out several studio albums and has been touring for over a decade, and his songs have appeared on numerous film soundtracks and TV shows.

Past installments of the Portsmouth Singer Songwriter Festival have also included acts such as Feist, Natalie Merchant, John Prine, Aimee Mann, and Sharon Van Etten, among others.
