Berwick town manager resigns

Berwick town manager Patrick Venne resigned his position on Dec. 16. “This decision should not be interpreted as a reflection of my dissatisfaction with the town or my position … instead, I have accepted a position which is a better match for my family’s needs,” Venne said in his resignation letter.

Venne was hired in 2012; in his letter, he pointed to the town’s work in obtaining the former Prime Tanning property and lowering taxes as some of the successes that occurred during his tenure.

Venne also forfeited his accrued sick time, which he said translates into “a $4,300 savings for the town.” The town is currently seeking proposals from individuals and consulting firms for help in recruiting its next town manager. — Larry Clow
