Live music on the Button Factory Stage
Plants can play music, and GREENWAVE is proof. Bosey Joe will present an evening of original electronic music created by and with plants at WSCA Radio in Portsmouth on Friday at 7 p.m. ($10). Then, on Saturday, Amy Love & Ben Traverse headline with guests Dylan McNeil and Owen Shepcaro at 7:30 p.m. ($10). Learn more here.
Music and comedy at The Press Room
Kicking off a half-dozen events at The Press Room this weekend is Pillow Fight Portsmouth: Best of Boston-Area Stand-Up Comedy on Friday at 7 p.m. ($20). A Friday Night Fiesta with DJ Tuggboat follows at 10:30 p.m. ($10). On Saturday, tribute act A Strange Day plays “In Orange” and other hits by The Cure at 7:30 p.m. ($20-$25), and then Green Lion Crew spins dub, reggae, dancehall, Afrobeat, and more at 10 p.m. ($10). Concerts and art at The Word Barn
Guitarist and songwriter Lyle Brewer, a current professor at Berklee College of Music, returns to The Word Barn in Exeter on Friday from 7-9 p.m. ($25). Sunday starts with a special Mother Daughter Collage Workshop led by artist Molly C. Meng from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. ($95). Then, two-time Juno Award winner Rose Cousins takes the stage from 7-9 p.m. ($30). “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” in Rochester
The vibrant and beloved musical “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” featuring music by composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, is on stage at the Rochester Opera House from May 8-24. Celebrate the season with heritage-breed baby animals, heirloom gardens, and historic landscapes at Strawbery Banke Museum in Portsmouth this weekend. Deep Blue C at The Rockingham Ballroom
Dynamic 17-piece ensemble the Deep Blue C Studio Orchestra will bring its lush, cinematic sound to The Rockingham Ballroom in Newmarket on Saturday 7 p.m. The performance will feature beloved classics and contemporary favorites performed with strings, brass, rhythm, and vocals. The cast of local comedy troupe Darwin’s Waiting Room is challenging itself this weekend. The 10 actors will perform eight comedic sketches after just a day and a half of rehearsals.
