Punk rock in Dover
Think The Queers are slowing down after nearly 30 years of touring? Nope. Tonight’s show at the Dover Brick House will represent the homegrown punk legends’ 12th gig of September, and they’ve got many more coming up this fall. The Queers are headlining the Upstart Fest Feat on Friday, Sept. 30, with support from Svetlanas, A Minor Revolution, The Fantastic Plastics, and Kyle Trocolla. Kit Kat Klub in Kittery
Set in the seedy Kit Kat Klub in 1920s Berlin, “Cabaret” is a wildly entertaining show with ominous undertones. Patrick Dorow Productions is bringing the show to Star Theatre at the Kittery Community Center for two weeks, beginning tonight (Sept. 30) and ending Oct. 9. The local show stars Jennifer Fogarty, who toured nationally with “The Addams Family,” along with Patrick Dorow. The third annual Welcome East Motorcycle Show moves to a new venue this year, taking place at 3S Artspace in Portsmouth on Saturday, Oct. 1, from 3 p.m. to midnight. Dozens of vintage motorcycles and mopeds will be on display at the free event, and bikers will mingle as they compete for prizes and listen to live music from local acts Harsh Armadillo and One Man Banned. Like them apples
Since 1985, Apple Harvest Day has been drawing thousands of people to downtown Dover for fresh food, live entertainment, and more. This year’s event takes place Saturday, Oct. 1, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., featuring 400 crafters, live music, and family fun. There’s also the Apple Harvest Day 5K Road Race, starting at 8:30 a.m. on River Street and traveling through the festival site on Washington Street and Central Avenue. Let’s get surreal
Artists and non-artists, poets and dabblers are invited to 3S Artspace on Sunday, Oct. 2, for “Show-Off Kick Off: A Day of Surrealist Poetry & Drawing for Friends and Family of All Ages.” It’s the opening event in a two-week pop-up exhibit that runs through Oct. 16, featuring photos, poems, drawings, and musings. The kick-off, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., includes a family-friendly art-making workshop with art educator Ashley Norman. Anyone can submit work for the exhibit; admission to the workshop is $5 per child or $10 per family. Find out more here.
