On Sunday, March 22, devotees of William Shatner gathered at Portsmouth Book and Bar to pay tribute to the actor/writer/singer/living legend at William Shatner Beat Night. Channeling the Shat to the best of their abilities, 11 performers presented monologues, dialogues, songs, poems, and campaign platforms in Shatner-esque fashion. The annual event raises money and collects food donations for the Seacoast Family Food Pantry. This year, Shatner Beat Night captain Stephanie Whitehouse said, the event generated $624 in donations and more than 40 food items.
Andy Fling pays tribute to recently deceased actor Leonard Nimoy, better known as Spock on “Star Trek,” with a reading of Captain Kirk’s eulogy for Spock from “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.”
Stephen Bobbett taps into his inner Shatner with a very special rendition of the Beastie Boys’ “Sabotage.”
Above and at top, Amanda and John Giles generate some of that classic Shatner eroticism with a rendition of Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet.” The couple won first prize for their performance.
