‘Unusual Perspectives’ at the York Art Association

New Show Starting October 3- December 1, 12-5:00 and runs Thursday – Sunday, at the York Art Association Gallery at 394 York Street. “Unusual Perspectives” and a special Opening Night, will be held on Friday, October 11, 5-7PM. This show is sponsored by our members.

The show is open to the public and features over 12 artists from the seacoast and nearby communities. Works are focused on abstractions, reflections, angles, contrasts, and different view points. The Opening Reception with complimentary beverages and appetizers, including wine and cheeses will be served. The show features work by seasoned artists, Tom Merriam and Michal Smiglowski. In addition, Donna Asquith who is also in the show, will be demonstrating acrylic techniques used in her paintings on Saturday, October 26th, from 12-2:00 PM at the gallery.

Tom, the Show Chair for York Art Association, was born in York and and Maine is his state – he is never leaving. Tom has always painted, and is a full time accomplished artist. His scenes come from visual experiences that Maine-lovers remember and relish.

His work includes painted murals, signs, landscapes and children’s books, watercolors of Maine barns and boats, country scenes and shorelines, nature and the outdoors.

Michal Smiglowski is a unique in his artistry of drawing black and white portraits artist with pinpoint accuracy and his works include presidents and other famous people as well as special commissions.

Donna Asquith has been painting since 2008 when she sold her first watercolor, her dedication to painting has been rewarded. Her paintings have been in numerous international, national, and regional juried shows around the country and she features sand pipers as well as waterside life and beauty.
