The Sunshine Boys by Neil Simon

Seacoast Rep’s Second Stage is cooking up a comedy, and boy is it a good one.

First, take a script by the king of comedy, Neil Simon. Then take the best comic minds on the Seacoast. Start with director Jamie Bradley, curator of our Homegrown series and award winning director and performer. Add performers G Matthew Gaskell and Kevin Mahaney – award winners all. Give them some time to rehearse and pair them with the same minds that bring out our Mainstage productions in Portsmouth.
Then, you just wait for the laughs to roll in.

The story follows the attempt by a young theatrical agent to re-unite his elderly uncle, a former vaudevillian great, with his long-time stage partner for a TV reunion. Despite their celebrated reputation, the two old men have not spoken in twelve years. Besides remastering their sketch, the two men have numerous issues to work out before they are ready to return to the public eye.

Hilarity, of course, ensues.

The Sunshine Boys takes place at the Star Theatre at the Kittery Community Center at 120 Rogers Road. Showtimes are Thursdays (when available) at 7:30pm, Fridays at 8pm, Saturdays at 2pm and 8pm, and Sundays at 2pm. Ample parking is available on site. Handicap seating is available. You can reach the STAR Theatre box office at 207-439-3800.
