SUMMARY:Sunprinting Workshop at the John Paul Jones House
DESCRIPTION:Create beautiful images using your own treasured objects and the power of the sun! Stop by the Lawn of the John Paul Jones House on Saturday\, September 13\, and try out one of the oldest forms of photography in this hands-on workshop at the Portsmouth Historical Society. We’ll begin by choosing and arranging objects on a pre-treated piece of fabric\, then expose that fabric to the sun\, rinse it\, and voila! You’ll have a print of your objects that you can keep forever. \nRain date is Saturday\, September 20 at 10:30 am\, same location. \nImportant Notes: \nSuggested objects will be smaller than 4×5″ and have some transparency or unique shape to them. Lace\, jewelry\, cut glass\, textiles with some transparency\, and small toys all work well. \nThis workshop is open to all ages\, but please note that\, while sunprinting fabric is generally safe to touch\, little ones who might put hands in mouths would need to be closely monitored. \nTo help us purchase the correct amount of supplies\, please use the “Participant” ticket if you’d like to create a sunprint\, and the “Guardian” ticket if you’re bringing a child but don’t want to make your own print. All are more than welcome to participate – we just need an accurate count to make sure we have plenty of materials and space!
