Keep up to date on health care issues on the Seacoast and nationally when Riverrun Bookstore holds its Sunday morning civics session this morning. Coffee included! Portsmouth resident Joan Jacobs, who served 25 years with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, will speak.
Joan was raised in Newton, MA, attended public school and earned an undergraduate degree in government from the University of Michigan. After teaching school and serving as a community health educator with Planned Parenthood, she went to graduate school at the University of Hawaii and earned a Masters of Public Health. Her years at the US Department of Health and Human Services included a policy analysis position in the Office of Minority Health and a one-year fellowship in the U.S. Senate in the office of Harry Reid of Nevada.
