SUMMARY:Stained Glass Flower Workshop w/ Kolika Chatterjee at 3S Artspace
DESCRIPTION:Stained Glass Flower Workshop\nw/ artist Kolika Chatterjee\nSaturday\, June 14\n11am – 2pm\nLocation: Performance Space\nRegistration + supplies fee $140\nAges 18+ \nThe garden is for all of us! Join us in the Performance Space for a hands-on workshop facilitated by artist Kolika Chatterjee where participants learn to make their own stained glass flowers using the Tiffany-style copper foil method. \nEach participant will create up to three flowers\, mounted on individual wooden stands. \nFlowers created during the workshop will “bloom” in a collective glass garden installation in the Shop at 3S on display for a week after the workshop. (Participation is optional.) At the conclusion of the mini exhibition\, participants will take their colorful flowers to display at home. \nWorkshop is limited to 20 participants. All materials and safety gear for the workshop will be provided– these costs are included in the registration fee. Registration for the class closes on June 8. \n—- \nAbout Kolika Chatterjee: \nKolika is a self-taught glass artist in Somerville\, MA known for her botanically-inspired glass home goods (both stained glass and kiln-formed)\, asymmetric aesthetics\, and use of negative space. You might know her brand as Kanch (glass). \nKanch by Kolika can be found in many shops and galleries around the country\, including in the Shop at 3S. \nDrawing on a past career as a scientist\, Kolika brings an experimental and analytical approach to her studio where her glassmaking is part intuitive and playful\, and part precise and structured. \nKolika teaches glass garden workshops to adult students from NH to RI. She encourages beginners and experienced glass makers to engage in this equipment-heavy craft with wonder\, and push the boundaries of the old school rules to connect with your elemental creativity. \nThe goal of each workshop stretches beyond individual flowers: the project is ultimately about the experience: the joy of co-creation in shared space\, the humility of learning a craft with strangers\, the tactile magic of working with our hands\, and the generosity of opening ourselves up and sharing our ideas with others. \n—- \n3S Artspace is supported in part by grants from the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts; the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation and NHCF’s Geoffrey E.
