SPLASH! The Art of Portsmouth’s Young People

Want to see the best of the innovative, inspiring minds of Portsmouth’s Visual Arts students? Stop by the Portsmouth Public Library when it comes alive with art from Little Harbour, New Franklin, and Dondero, as well as the Portsmouth Middle and High Schools.

The 11th annual exhibition of “SPLASH! The Art of Portsmouth’s Young People” will open Friday, Mar. 9 at the Portsmouth Public Library. The display of two and three dimensional artwork which will be featured in the Levenson Community Room and throughout the library.

The exhibit is both a culmination of work since the beginning of the school year and a celebration of Youth Art Month. The artwork, hung by art educators of the Portsmouth School Department as well as library staff, vary in style, medium, and materials. Works will range from tiny to gigantic such as cyanotype prints, collages, mobiles, weavings, ceramics, sculpture and photography. You will see paintings and drawings done from observation and inspired by artists in a variety of mediums plus much, much more.

An Artists’ Reception will be held Saturday, Mar. 17, from 2 – 4 p.m. The exhibition will run through April 15.
