About the Sound Body program on January 20:
No two Sound Body Sundays will be the same lineup– each date will be a fresh, invigorating experience with a different focus!
Interested in exploring the connection between music, meditation, and visual art, Klaxton and Smith will be composing a series of pieces designed to make use of the sonic qualities of the hosting space as well as drawing inspiration from the current installation. The 3s art gallery features big right angles and a very high ceiling, sending the smallest of sounds on a lengthy journey through the room and into your ears. Hoping to fully encompass the audience in their newly composed sounds, the featured music will prepare everyone for the long-form yoga nidra delivered by yogi Karyn Tower. In order to more deeply connect the meditative practice with the accompanying music, Tower’s voice will be incorporated into the improvised score.

3S Artspace presents Sound Body: a site-specific mindfulness workshop in the Gallery @ 3S Artspace.
This Sunday series created by 3S Artspace and Circulus Arts calls to all lovers of music (particularly lovers of improv), practitioners of yoga, meditation, mindfulness, and curious community members in need of a winter retreat. Sound Body is a chance for audiences and participants to retreat into a space where everyone is nurtured and cared for, and invited to share that experience with everyone in their community when they leave, to take that experience and build on it, in their own way.
What can you expect?
Musicians will compose music designed for the unique sound properties of the Gallery at 3S Artspace while teachers across yoga, meditation and reiki disciplines lead participants in movement and/or mindfulness practice. Attendees are invited to participate to the degree they feel comfortable, merely as viewer, or to fully take on the meditation and movement guidance provided.
Bringing a yoga mat is encouraged. Casual, comfortable attire recommended.
Sound Body is limited to 40 participants per session.
