SUMMARY:Shapes Cuts and Carves at The Word Barn
DESCRIPTION:Let’s explore block printing piece by piece.  In this class we’ll look at the elements that make up a design and rather than carve and print just one image – we’ll reduce a block to many shapes to then create a repeat pattern.  We’ll share our blocks to make larger patterns together.  During this time\, we’ll be printing on both paper and fabric. \nAll materials provided : You’re welcome to bring any paper or fabric that you’d like to try printing on- all students will leave with their own unique carved blocks and the prints they make in class\, as well as the knowledge to continue this craft. \nSpace is very limited! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT MOLLY C. MENG\nWEBSITE | FACEBOOK | INSTAGRAM\nMolly C. Meng studied literature with a personal minor in collecting other people’s lives.  An obsession with old ledgers\, vintage photos. and every single discarded book that exists\, her work reimagines the untold stories behind the otherwise forgotten items of every day. \nA self-taught artist\, the medium of collage in both paper and textiles is Molly’s dominant form of communicating.  She successfully weaves the elements of ephemera and storytelling into each piece she creates. \nThe spectacular beauty of the ordinary is elevated with detail in her work.  Molly’s work has shown nationally in both museums and galleries located in New York\, San Francisco\, Los Angeles\, Wisconsin and Montana.  She has produced large scale commissions for interior designers\, personal homes and a number of Prometheus apartment complexes in Northern California. \nOther than creating her own artwork\, Molly helps adults and young people lean into their unique talent by teaching creative workshops around the U.S. as well as on an annual retreat in the South of France.  Molly C. Meng is currently living and working in Portsmouth\, New Hampshire.
