NOTE: This event was rescheduled from April 18 to Oct. 4.
Seacoast Science Center’s Rescue Run: Race for Marine Mammals features a 5k chip-timed trail race and un-timed walk through Odiorne Point State Park. The 9am race follows a 5k cross-country trail route created by Jennifer Shultis, captain of Team Eastern Mountain Sports, 2006 US Adventure Racing National Champions. Participants will pass through woodlands, along a rocky shore, across a sandy beach, and alongside historic military fortifications.
Prizes are awarded in age and gender categories from 6 to 60+, as well as overall fastest male and female for the 5k. Runners and walkers are welcome to register.
Starting at 9:40am, the Kids Fun Run features a 300-yard dash and a half-mile run for children ages 12 and under. Every child that participates in the Fun Run wins a prize.
Following the race, enjoy a light runner’s breakfast, music, fun ocean-themed activities, and even a mock seal rescue for the kids!
Please remember that dogs are not allowed in Odiorne Point State Park. Strollers are not permitted on the 5k trail. Children, age 12 and under, must be accompanied by an adult on the 5k.
Trail run fees are $25 for ages 13 and up ($30 after April 15); $15 for ages 6-12 ($20 after April 15) and no cost for kids under age 6 who run with an adult.
Fun Run fees are $6 for the 300-yard dash and $6 for the half-mile run (children must be age 12 or under to participate).
